The use of household cleaning products containing chemical substances has the potential to cause environmental impacts, particularly through liquid waste discharged into water channels. In Neighborhood Unit 10 Community Unit 5, Pematang Gubernur Subdistrict, limited public knowledge was identified regarding alternative cleaning products that are environmentally friendly and can be produced independently. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and skills through training on the production of natural dishwashing soap. The implementation method included identifying community needs, delivering material on the environmental impacts of chemical-based cleaning products, conducting hands-on practice in making natural soap, and facilitating discussions on the application of environmentally friendly products in daily household activities. The activity was carried out using a participatory approach by actively involving community members, particularly housewives, to ensure that the material was practical, easily understood, and applicable at home. Evaluation was conducted through observation of the production process, assessment of the soap products produced by participants, and brief feedback regarding ease of application. The results showed that participants were able to follow the soap-making stages properly, experienced increased understanding of the risks associated with chemical waste, and developed motivation to use cleaning products that are safer for the environment. This activity also strengthened the role of housewives as agents of change within households. The program has the potential to be developed as an independent, family-based initiative to support household cleanliness while promoting environmental sustainability in the long term.
