Clear ownership, publishing rights, and reuse conditions for articles published in Social Sciences Journal.

Policy Summary

Authors publishing in Social Sciences Journal retain the copyright to their articles. Copyright is not transferred exclusively to the journal or its publisher.

Authors grant the journal the right of first publication and the non-exclusive rights required to publish, reproduce, distribute, preserve, index, and communicate the article. Published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Copyright in an article published by Social Sciences Journal remains with the author or authors, or with another legitimate rights holder where applicable. The journal does not require an exclusive transfer of copyright as a condition of publication.

Authors retain their moral rights, including the right to be identified as the creators of the work and the right to object to misleading attribution or inappropriate modification, subject to applicable law.

When copyright is held by an institution, employer, research sponsor, or another party, the corresponding author must ensure that the person submitting the manuscript has the authority to grant the publishing and licensing permissions described in this policy.

Rights Granted to the Journal

Upon acceptance and publication, authors grant Social Sciences Journal and Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu the following non-exclusive rights:

• The right of first publication of the accepted article;
• The right to edit, format, copyedit, typeset, reproduce, publish, and distribute the article;
• The right to publish the article in electronic, print, or other appropriate formats;
• The right to register and maintain the article’s DOI and associated metadata;
• The right to deposit, preserve, archive, index, and distribute the article through repositories and scholarly services;
• The right to identify Social Sciences Journal as the original place of publication; and
• The right to make the article available under the journal’s stated Creative Commons license.

License Permissions and Conditions

Rights Retained by Authors

Because authors retain copyright and grant only non-exclusive publishing rights, they may:

• Use the article in teaching, lectures, presentations, and academic training;
• Reuse parts of the article in a thesis, dissertation, book, or subsequent scholarly work;
• Distribute copies to students, colleagues, and research collaborators;
• Deposit the preprint, accepted manuscript, or published version in an institutional or subject repository;
• Post the article on a personal or institutional website;
• Share the article through lawful academic networking and scholarly communication platforms;
• Comply with repository or public-access requirements imposed by research funders; and
• Enter into additional non-exclusive distribution arrangements, provided that the original publication is properly acknowledged.

Author Representations and Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript, the authors confirm that:

• The submitted work is original and does not unlawfully reproduce material belonging to another party;
• The manuscript has not been previously published, except where clearly disclosed and permitted by journal policy;
• The manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publisher;
• All listed authors have made an appropriate contribution and have approved the submitted and accepted versions;
• All necessary permissions for third-party material have been obtained;
• The manuscript does not infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, contractual, or other lawful rights;
• Research funding, conflicts of interest, and relevant legal or ethical restrictions have been disclosed; and
• The corresponding author has the authority to act on behalf of all co-authors during the submission and publication process.

Third-Party Copyrighted Material

Authors are responsible for identifying materials that are owned by third parties, including figures, photographs, maps, scales, instruments, questionnaires, datasets, tables, illustrations, and substantial quotations.

Authors must obtain written permission when the intended use is not permitted by law or by the material’s existing license. Proof of permission must be supplied to the editorial office when requested.

Third-party material not covered by the article’s CC BY-SA 4.0 license must be accompanied by a clear credit line stating its source, copyright holder, and applicable reuse conditions.

Recommended Attribution

Users reusing an article should provide attribution in the following form:

Copyright Statement on Published Articles

Each published article should display the name of the copyright holder and the applicable license on its article page and full-text document.

Journal Website and Branding

The article-level CC BY-SA 4.0 license does not automatically apply to the journal’s logo, institutional emblem, website design, interface, trademarks, accreditation marks, or third-party materials displayed on the website unless such material is expressly identified as being licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Policy Consistency

This Copyright and Licensing Policy must be applied consistently across the Open Access Policy, Author Guidelines, article template, publication agreement, article landing pages, full-text PDF files, DOI metadata, and repository records of Social Sciences Journal.
