Open Access Statement

Social Sciences Journal is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, without subscription charges, registration requirements, or embargo periods.

The journal supports the principle that providing unrestricted access to scholarly research promotes the dissemination of knowledge, increases opportunities for academic collaboration, strengthens research visibility, and supports the responsible use of research by scholars, practitioners, policymakers, students, and the public.

Reader and User Rights

Subject to the applicable Creative Commons license, users may:

  • Read and download the full text of published articles without charge;
  • Copy, print, and distribute articles through lawful channels;
  • Link to the full text of articles and their official landing pages;
  • Use articles for teaching, learning, research, and professional purposes;
  • Index, crawl, text-mine, and process articles using appropriate software;
  • Adapt, translate, transform, or build upon published material;
  • Use the material for lawful purposes, including commercial purposes, provided that all license conditions are satisfied.

Attribution Users must give appropriate credit to the author or authors, identify the original publication in Social Sciences Journal, provide the article DOI or URL, link to the license, and indicate whether changes were made.
ShareAlike If users remix, transform, translate, or build upon the material, the resulting work must be distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0 or another Creative Commons-compatible license.
No Additional Restrictions Users may not apply legal terms, digital rights management, or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

Copyright and Publishing Rights

Authors retain the copyright to their published articles. Copyright is not transferred exclusively to Social Sciences Journal or its publisher.

By submitting and publishing an article, authors grant Social Sciences Journal and Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu:

  • The right of first publication;
  • A non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, archive, preserve, index, and communicate the article;
  • The right to identify Social Sciences Journal as the original place of publication; and
  • The right to distribute the published article under the stated Creative Commons license.

Authors may enter into additional non-exclusive agreements for the distribution or use of the published version, provided that the original publication in Social Sciences Journal is properly acknowledged and linked through its DOI or official article URL.

Author Self-Archiving Rights

Authors may deposit and disseminate their work without an embargo period, subject to appropriate acknowledgment of the published source. Authors may archive:

  • Preprint: the manuscript version submitted before peer review;
  • Accepted manuscript: the version accepted after peer review but before final journal formatting; and
  • Version of record: the final published article available on the journal website.

Authors may deposit these versions in:

  • Institutional or subject-based repositories;
  • Personal or institutional websites;
  • Academic profile platforms;
  • Research funder repositories; and
  • Other lawful scholarly communication platforms.
When sharing the published version, authors should include the complete bibliographic citation, article DOI, journal name, and a link to the official article page.

Third-Party Material

The CC BY-SA 4.0 license applies only to material for which the author or journal has the authority to grant reuse permission. Images, instruments, tables, datasets, maps, figures, quotations, or other third-party materials may be subject to different copyright or licensing conditions.

Third-party material that is not covered by the article’s Creative Commons license must be clearly identified through an appropriate credit line. Users are responsible for obtaining permission directly from the relevant copyright holder when their intended use is not permitted by law or by the material’s stated license.

Open Access and Publication Charges

Open access refers to the rights of readers and users to access and reuse published content. It does not automatically mean that manuscript processing or publication is free of charge.

Any submission, processing, publication, or other author charges must be stated transparently and separately on the journal’s Article Processing Charge (APC) page. No fee that has not been disclosed in the journal’s official fee policy may be imposed on authors.

Access, Indexing, and Preservation

Each published article is provided through an individual article page and a downloadable full-text file. Article metadata may be distributed to indexing services, repositories, libraries, scholarly databases, search engines, and preservation systems to increase discoverability and ensure continued access.

The journal permits lawful harvesting, indexing, text mining, metadata reuse, and repository deposit in accordance with the article’s license and applicable technical standards.

Display of Copyright and License Information

Copyright ownership and licensing information should be displayed consistently on:

  • The journal’s Open Access Policy page;
  • The journal’s Copyright Policy page;
  • The landing page of each published article;
  • The full-text PDF or HTML version of each article; and
  • The article metadata supplied to DOI registration agencies and indexing services, where technically supported.

Recommended Attribution Format

When reusing a published article, users should provide attribution in the following form:

[Author name(s)]. “[Article title].” Social Sciences Journal, volume, issue, year, page range, DOI. Licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Changes were made, if applicable.
