2. Submission Requirements

Submit through OJS or the official contact page with the subject Post-Publication Discussion. Identify the article title and DOI and include:

• a precise, concise, and evidence-based argument linked to specific statements, methods, data, tables, or figures;
• relevant references, data, calculations, or supporting files needed to evaluate the claim;
• the contributor's name, affiliation, email, ORCID where available, contributions, funding, and conflicts of interest;
• confirmation that the comment is original, is not under consideration elsewhere, and respects privacy and copyright; and
• professional language without personal attacks, harassment, defamation, or speculation about motives.

3. Editorial Process

1. Screening: the editor checks relevance, evidence, originality, conflicts, tone, legal or privacy risk, and the correct policy route. A sufficiently identified submission is normally acknowledged within seven working days.
2. Author invitation: when a comment is suitable for consideration, the original authors are normally invited to respond within 14 calendar days or another stated period.
3. Review: a substantive technical or empirical comment and response may be assessed by one or more independent experts. The identities and files remain confidential during review unless a different model is explicitly agreed.
4. Decision: the editor may accept, request revision, decline, redirect to another policy, or invite a fuller article. Acceptance is based on scholarly value, accuracy, fairness, and relevance—not whether the comment agrees with the original authors.
5. Publication: an accepted comment and response are published as separate, citable items, linked bidirectionally to the original article and assigned metadata and a DOI where supported.

4. Moderation and Boundaries

JAM may decline material that is repetitive, unsupported, promotional, discriminatory, abusive, defamatory, unlawfully discloses confidential information, concerns a private authorship or employment dispute, or attempts to relitigate an editorial appeal without new evidence. Anonymous public comments are not normally published, but a confidential integrity allegation may be assessed when specific and verifiable.

A published discussion does not by itself change the status of the original article. If the process identifies a material error or reliability concern, JAM will separately apply the Corrections, Expressions of Concern, or Retraction Policy.

5. Appeals, Preservation, and Record

A procedural appeal may be made under the Appeals and Complaints Policy. Published comments, responses, editorial notices, versions, and link relationships form part of the permanent scholarly record and are included in JAM's preservation workflow.
