JAM processes personal information only when necessary for journal services requested by the user, the legitimate operation and integrity of scholarly publishing, compliance with an obligation, protection of rights and security, or consent where consent is the appropriate basis. Only information reasonably necessary for the stated purpose should be collected and accessed.
For published articles, the author names, order, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, contributor roles, correspondence information selected for publication, funding, competing-interest statements, data-availability statements, article history, and bibliographic metadata may become public and may be distributed to indexing, DOI, archiving, library, and discovery services. Published metadata forms part of the scholarly record and cannot normally be erased merely because an author later changes affiliation or preference; factual errors may be corrected under the Corrections and Errata Policy.
Personal information may be accessible only to persons who need it for a legitimate journal function, including authorized editors, editorial staff, assigned reviewers, production personnel, publisher administrators, and contracted technical services subject to appropriate safeguards. Information may also be disclosed:
Reviewer identities remain confidential under JAM's double-anonymous review process unless disclosure is authorized by policy, consented to by the reviewer, or legally required. Confidential manuscript content must not be uploaded to an unauthorized public artificial-intelligence service.
OJS may use session cookies and technical logs required for login, preferences, security, and site operation. JAM should not install third-party advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics code through custom HTML unless the service has been formally approved, documented, secured, and disclosed with an appropriate consent mechanism where required. Counter scripts or hidden pixels must not be inserted into this Privacy Statement.
JAM and its publisher apply reasonable administrative and technical controls, including access limitation, account security, software maintenance, backup, and incident handling. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Users should maintain a strong unique password and report suspected unauthorized access promptly. A material incident will be assessed, contained, documented, and notified to affected persons or competent authorities when appropriate or required.
Subject to the integrity of the scholarly record and applicable obligations, a person may request access to their personal information, correction of inaccurate data, restriction or objection to certain processing, account deactivation, or deletion of information no longer required. The request should identify the person, relevant OJS account or manuscript, specific information, and requested action. JAM may verify identity and explain when a request cannot be fulfilled completely.
This statement governs personal-information processing. It does not replace research-participant consent, ethics approval, data-sharing restrictions, copyright terms, publication-ethics procedures, or payment rules.
