Journal of Accounting and Management (JAM) | e-ISSN 3048-345X
Journal of Accounting and Management (JAM) handles pre-publication withdrawal requests fairly, promptly, and transparently while respecting author autonomy, co-author agreement, reviewer effort, editorial records, and research integrity. Withdrawal is not a substitute for addressing duplicate submission, authorship disputes, misconduct, or published-article correction.
This policy applies only before publication of the Version of Record. A published article cannot be “withdrawn” by an author; published errors and integrity concerns follow the Corrections, Expressions of Concern, or Retraction policies. Financial consequences, if any, are governed by the APC and Refund pages and are not repeated here.
The corresponding author should submit a signed or otherwise verifiable request through OJS using the subject “Manuscript Withdrawal Request”. It must include the manuscript title and ID, all authors, reason, current stage, related submissions, and confirmation that all authors agree. If authors disagree, JAM pauses action and seeks clarification or institutional assistance where needed.
| Stage | JAM Approach |
|---|---|
| Before editorial assessment | A complete request is normally granted after identity and co-author agreement are verified. |
| During screening or peer review | JAM assesses the reason, duplicated submission risk, reviewer work already undertaken, ethics concerns, and co-author agreement. A justified request is normally granted with a documented record. |
| After acceptance, during copyediting or layout | Withdrawal requires a substantial reason and Editor-in-Chief approval because the article has entered production. JAM may first seek correction of a resolvable issue. |
| After publication | Not a manuscript withdrawal. Use a correction, Expression of Concern, retraction, or exceptional removal procedure. |
Submitting to another journal before JAM confirms withdrawal, concealing duplicate submission, using withdrawal to evade an integrity inquiry, providing false information, or repeatedly consuming editorial resources in bad faith may be investigated under Publication Ethics. JAM does not impose automatic institutional blacklisting or fixed multi-year bans; any restriction must be evidence-based, proportionate, time-limited, individually reasoned, and appealable.
Withdrawal does not itself create an automatic penalty. Submission fees, APC liability, waivers, duplicate payments, refunds, and non-refundable production costs are governed only by the current APC page and APC Waiver and Refund Policy. Authors must receive a valid official invoice before payment.
A decision may be challenged for factual error, overlooked evidence, conflict, or material procedural defect under the Appeals and Complaints Policy.
