Conflict of Interest

Jurnal Pusat Manajemen (PUSMAN) · e-ISSN 3048-3840

A conflict of interest exists when financial, personal, professional, institutional, academic, or intellectual relationships could reasonably be perceived to influence research, review, or editorial judgment. A conflict does not automatically imply misconduct, but it must be disclosed and managed.

Authors

Authors must disclose relevant interests from the preceding three years and any older relationship that remains directly relevant. Examples include employment, consultancy, honoraria, grants, stock ownership, patents, paid testimony, close personal relationships, institutional roles, advocacy positions, and strong academic competition. If none exist, the manuscript should state: “The authors declare no competing interests.” Funding sources and the funder’s role must be identified separately.

Reviewers

Invited reviewers must decline or consult the editor when a relationship with the authors, institutions, subject, data, or sponsor could impair—or appear to impair—impartiality. Reviewers must not use privileged information for personal or competitive advantage.

Editors and editorial board members

Editors must recuse themselves from manuscripts they authored, supervised, funded, or have a close relationship with. An independent editor will manage the manuscript. Submissions from editorial board members are subject to the same standards and are processed without their access to confidential decision records.

Management of disclosures

The editor may publish a disclosure, obtain an independent review, restrict an individual’s role, request clarification, or decline the manuscript when a conflict cannot be managed. Failure to disclose may lead to correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other proportionate action after fair review.

This policy governs competing interests only. Authorship eligibility is addressed in Authorship and Contributorship; funding and data responsibilities are addressed in Research Data and Data Availability.
